Abstract:
Objective To observe the clinical effect of external treatment of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in early and middle stage knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Methods 106 patients with early and middle stage KOA were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 53 cases in each group. The observation group was given traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with flurbiprofen cataplasm, and the control group was treated with flurbiprofen cataplasm. After treatment, the clinical efficacy, VAS score, ROM, osteoarthritis index score (WOMAC) and quality of life score (SF-36) were compared between the two groups. Results The clinical total effective rate of the observation group was 90.57%, and the control group was 75.47%, which the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, VAS and WOMAC scores in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05); The ROM of the two groups was higher than that before treatment, and the observation group was higher than the control group (P<0.05). Three months after treatment, the scores of SF-36 in the two groups were higher than those before treatment, and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with flurbiprofen cataplasm can alleviate the pain of patients with early and middle stage KOA and improve their knee function and quality of life. It is an external treatment of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine with definite curative effect and good safety.
