Abstract:
Objective To compare the clinical effects of open tension-free inguinal hernia repair (OTFH) and transabdominal preperitoneal prosthesis (TAPP). Methods 132 patients with inguinal hernia hospitalized in our hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into study group and control group according to different surgical methods. The study group was treated with transabdominal preperitoneal prosthesis, including 69 patients, and the control group was treated with open tension-free inguinal hernia repair, including 63 patients. The operation time, bleeding volume, postoperative out of bed time, pain score, length of hospital stay, hospitalization expenses, complications and recurrence were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time, postoperative out of bed time, pain score and hospitalization time in the study group were less than those in the control group,(46.7±6.3) min vs (37.8±3.6) min, (1.3±0.4) d vs (2.2±0.6) d, (3.5±0.8) points vs (5.4±0.8) points, (6.4±2.2) d vs (8.5±3.2) d, which the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The hospitalization cost of the study group was higher than that in the control group, (1.9±0.4) million vs (1.0±0.3) million, which the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in intraoperative bleeding, complications and recurrence between the study group and the control group (21.2±2.3) mL vs (21.6±2.0) mL, (6/69) vs (10/63), (4/69) vs (5/63) (P>0.05). Conclusion Both OTFH and TAPP are safe and effective methods. Compared with OTFH, patients treated with TAPP can obtain better benefits. Long term recurrence may require longer follow-up.
