Abstract:
Objective To investigate the clinical effects of Shendan Sanjie Capsule (SSC) combined with video-assisted minithoracotomy (VAMT) surgery in the treatment of elderly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods Totally 218 cases of elderly NSCLC patients treated in our hospital from May 2010 to May 2012 were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 109 cases in each group. The patients in control group weres treated by VAMT, while the patients in observation group were given SSC on the base of control group, the treatment time was 3 months and the isodose placebo was given in control group. Before and after treatment, the immunological function indicators (IgG, IgA, CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+), tumor markers (CYFRA21-1, NSE, SCC and CEA), and life quality scores (emotional function, social function, role function, cognitive function and physical function) in 2 groups were detected. After operation, the complications in 2 groups were closely observed, including postoperative pain, fever, cough, bleeding, postoperative infection and arrhythmia. After treatment, all patients were followed up for 5 years, and the survival rates were observed for 1, 3 and 5 years, along with the PFS and OS. Results Three months after the treatment, the levels of IgG, IgA, CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ were significantly higher, while the CYFRA21-1, NSE, SCC and CEA levels were signi.cantly lower in observation group than which in control group (P<0.05), while the scores of emotional function, social function, role function, cognitive function and physical function were significantly higher in observation group than group (P<0.05). After the treatment, the rates of postoperative pain, fever, cough, bleeding, postoperative infection and arrhythmia were significantly lower in observation group than control group (P < 0.05). The 5 years followed up showed, 1, 3 and 5 years survival rates, progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in observation group were signi.cantly higher in observation group than control group (P <0.05). Conclusion SSC combined with VAMT surgery in the treatment of elderly NSCLC has a good effect, and could promote the immune function and reduce the postoperative complications in the patients.
