Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of Senna Granules combined with polyethylene glycol (PEG) in bowel preparation before colonoscopy. Methods A total of 240 patients undergoing colonoscopy at the endoscopy unit were randomly divided into control group and intervention group, 120 cases in each group. The control group were given 2 L PEG and placebo, the other group were given 2 L PEG and 20 g Senna Granules. Then the quality of bowel preparation, time from the colonoscopy to ileocecal part and polyp detection rate were analyzed. Results In the quality of bowel preparation, the intervention group (83.6%) were higher than the control group (62.6%, P<0.05). In the time from the colonoscopy to ileocecal part, the intervention group was (18.16±10.11) min and the control group was (20.38±11.01) min (P=0.112). The polyp detection rate between the intervention group (24.1%) and control group (16.5%) had no statistical difference (P=0.151). Conclusion Senna Granules combined with polyethylene glycol can improve the quality of bowel preparation before colonoscopy, and is worth of promoting on clinical.
