Clinical Outcomes of Transarticular Cannula Screw Fixation for Lisfranc Joint Injuries

Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of transarticular screw ?xation for Lisfranc joint injuries. Methods A retrospective analysis was made on clinical data of 30 patients with Lisfranc joint injuries who underwent open reduction and transarticular screw ?xation. The clinical outcomes were evaluated according to American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score and visual analogue scale (VAS) score. Results All patients were followed up for 8 to 22 months (average of 10.6 months). X-ray ?lms showed fracture healing upon 10 to 16 weeks (average of 11 weeks). At last follow-up, AOFAS score was from 56.6±8.5 to 86.2±3.6, and VAS score was from 5.6±2.3 to 2.3±2.4, respectively. There was signi?cant difference in these two scores. These results were excellent in 11 cases, good in 15 cases, and fair in 4 cases with an excellent and good rate of 86 . 7 %. Conclusion Transarticular screw fixation for Lisfranc joint injuries may have satisfactory results. The exact results should be con?rmed by further clinical research.
