Effect of Huiyang Shengji decoction combined with pressure therapy on wound healing and levels of TNF-a and bFGF in patients with venous leg ulcer of Qi deficiency and blood stasis type

Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Huiyang Shengji decoction combined with pressure therapy in the treatment of venous leg ulcer (VLU) of Qi deficiency and blood stasis type, and to explore its effect on wound healing and serum inflammatory repair factors. Methods A total of 160 patients with VLU of Qi deficiency and blood stasis type were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 80 cases in each group. The control group was treated with standard multi-layer pressure bandage, and the observation group was treated with Huiyang Shengji decoction orally for 4 weeks. The wound area reduction rate, healing time, pain VAS score, TCM syndrome score (total score of wound symptoms and single symptom score) and serum TNF-α and bFGF levels were observed. Results After treatment, the reduction rate of wound area in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the healing time was shorter than that in the control group (P <0.001). The VAS score, the total score of wound symptoms and the scores of single symptoms such as pale wound, pale granulation, dark surrounding skin, heavy lower limbs and fatigue in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P <0.001). The level of serum TNF-α in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the level of bFGF was higher than that in the control group (P <0.001). Conclusion Huiyang Shengji decoction combined with pressure therapy can significantly promote the wound healing of venous ulcer of lower extremity with Qi deficiency and blood stasis, and effectively improve the TCM syndromes and local symptoms of patients. The curative effect is better than that of single pressure therapy.
