Effects of Quyu Shengji powder combined with Luohua Zizhu capsules on postoperative wound healing, pain, and serum PGE-2, CXCR4, VEGF levels in patients with anal fistula

Abstract:
Objective To study the effects of Quyu Shengji powder combined with Luohua Zizhu capsules on wound healing, pain, and serum prostaglandin E2 (PGE-2), C-X-C chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels in patients with anal fistula after surgery. Methods From March 2022 to March 2025, 90 patients with complex anal fistula who received surgical therapy at our hospital were selected. Patients were randomly separated into the reference group (Luohua Zizhu capsules) and the therapy group (Quyu Shengji powder+Luohua Zizhu capsules), with 45 cases per group. The efficacy, wound healing indicators, wound symptom scores, serum PGE-2, CXCR4, VEGF levels, anal function [anal longest contraction time (ALCT), anal resting pressure (ARP), and severity of fecal incontinence (Wexner) scale] were compared. Results The therapy group had a greater overall effective rate (91.11%) than the reference group (75.56%), and the therapy group had prominently shorter wound healing time than the reference group (P <0.05). After therapy, the therapy group had smaller wound exudate volume, wound symptom score, VAS score, PGE-2, CXCR4, and Wexner, and larger VEGF, ARP, and ALCT than the reference group (P <0.05). Conclusion The application of Quyu Shengji powder combined with Luohua Zizhu capsules in postoperative therapy of anal fistula patients can prominently ameliorate clinical efficacy, effectively promote wound healing, shorten healing time, reduce wound exudation and symptom manifestations, relieve patient pain, regulate serum PGE-2, CXCR4, VEGF levels, and improve anal function.
