Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effects of meridian-guided manual expression therapy combined with Xiaoyao powder on C-reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cell (WBC) levels in patients with acute mastitis during lactation. Methods A prospective analysis was conducted on 131 patients with early-stage lactational acute mastitis admitted to our hospital from January 2023 to May 2024. Patients were divided into two groups using a random number table method. The control group received conventional manual expression therapy, while the observation group was treated with meridian-guided manual expression therapy combined with Xiaoyao powder. The clinical efficacy, serum CRP and WBC levels were compared between the two groups. Results After intervention, the total effective rate of the observation group was 100.00%, which was significantly higher than 83.33% of the control group (P <0.05); the time to return to normal body temperature in the observation group was (1.5±0.4) days, which was shorter than (2.3±0.6) days in the control group (P <0.05); the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score, milk mass score and breast skin color score of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P <0.05); the serum CRP and WBC levels in the observation group decreased to (3.42±1.25) mg/L and (6.16±1.24)×109/L, respectively, which were lower than (6.29±1.36) mg/L and (7.49±1.53)×109/L in the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion Meridian-guided manual expression therapy combined with Xiaoyao powder can improve serum CRP and WBC levels in patients with acute mastitis during lactation, enhancing the effectiveness of improving milk swelling and breast skin color.
