Abstract:
Objective To scientifically establish standardized protocols for enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in the perioperative period through synergistic integration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine. Methods The study employed literature review, Delphi method, and clinical evaluation methodologies to develop evidence-based perioperative ERAS protocols integrating TCM and Western medicine. Results Literature review findings: Perioperative TCM-Western integrative ERAS interventions and clinical priorities encompass: Preoperative Management(Patient education, preoperative assessment, prehabilitation, nutritional support, thromboprophylaxis, bowel preparation, preoperative TCM interventions), intraoperative management(antibiotic prophylaxis, skin disinfection, anesthesia management, surgical techniques, organ protection, glycemic control, fluid management, thermoregulation, tube management), postoperative management:(pain control, blood management, gastrointestinal function recovery, prevention of postoperative nausea/vomiting, dietary management, early mobilization, fatigue management, deep vein thrombosis prevention, discharge criteria, follow-up, and ERAS efficacy evaluation). Delphi method findings: A three-round expert consensus process finalized the Guidelines for enhanced recovery after surgery in the perioperative period with synergistic integration of TCM and Western medicine. Guideline release: The guidelines will be officially issued and implemented through the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation. Conclusion This project established standardized perioperative ERAS protocols for Guangdong Province by integrating TCM and Western medicine strengths, using literature review and Delphi consensus methods. It provides a scientifically rigorous framework for clinical practice and research in TCM-Western medicine integrative ERAS.
