The effect of Tongbi capsule combined with total knee arthroplasty in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis and its impact on serum AXL and Decorin

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the healing effect of Tongbi capsule combined with artificial total knee arthroplasty on knee osteoarthritis, and its influences on knee joint function and serum AXL and Decorin. Methods A total of 102 patients with knee osteoarthritis admitted to our hospital from October 2023 to January 2024 were selected and divided into total knee arthroplasty group and Tongbi capsule group by the random number table method, with 51 cases in each group. Both groups were given conventional treatment first. The artificial total knee arthroplasty group was given artificial total knee arthroplasty, while the Tongbi capsule group was given Tongbi capsule on the top of the artificial total knee arthroplasty group. The healing effect, knee joint function, serum AXL, Decorin, American Knee Society score (AKS), Oxford Knee score (OKS), and TCM clinical syndrome score were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the total effective rate of Tongbi capsule group was higher (χ2=4.317, P <0.05). After treatment, the Hospital for Special Surgery Knee Score (HSS), Knee score (KSS), and AKS scores increased in both groups, with higher scores in the Tongbi capsule group (P <0.05). After treatment, the serum AXL, serum Decorin, OKS score, and TCM clinical syndrome score decreased in both groups, with lower scores in the Tongbi capsule group (P <0.05).Conclusion The combination of Tongbi capsules and artificial total knee arthroplasty has a better healing effect on knee osteoarthritis.
