Influence of modified Xiaozhong Huayu Xujin decoction combined with surgery on limb swelling regression and fracture healing in patients with femoral shaft fracture

Abstract:
Objective To observe the influence of modified Xiaozhong Huayu Xujin decoction combined with surgery on limb swelling regression and fracture healing in patients with femoral shaft fracture (FSF). Methods 120 patients with FSF (blood stasis and Qi stagnation type) in department of orthopedics of the hospital from June 2021 to June 2024 were selected as research subjects, and were divided into combined group and control group by computer random number table matching method, with 60 cases in each group. Both groups of patients received intramedullary nail fixation, and the combined group was combined with Xiaozhong Huayu Xujin decoction after surgery. The differences in limb swelling regression time and fracture healing time were recorded in the two groups. The differences in serum pain mediators and serum bone formation indicators were compared between groups before treatment and after 3 months of treatment. The incidence rates of postoperative complications were recorded. Results The limb swelling regression time and fracture healing time in combined group were significantly shorter than those in control group (P <0.05). After 3 months of treatment, the levels of serum NPY, β-EP and NGF in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the above levels in combined group were significantly lower than those in control group (P <0.05). The levels of serum PINP, PICP and BAP and Harris score were higher than those before treatment, and the levels and score were significantly higher in combined group than those in control group (P <0.05). During treatment, there were no significant differences in the incidence rates of adverse reactions between groups (P >0.05). The incidence rates of complications in combined group were significantly lower compared to control group (P <0.05). Conclusion Modified Xiaozhong Huayu Xujin decoction combined with surgery for FSF patients can accelerate the recovery, relieve the pain, and improve the affected limb hemorheology and hip function, and it is safe and reliable and has clinical promotion value.
