Abstract:
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of bushen acupuncture combined with press needle on lumbar disc herniation(LDH). Methods 92 LDH patients admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to January 2024were selected and divided into two groups by random number table method. The control group(46 cases) received bushen acupuncture treatment for 4 weeks, and the observation group(46 cases) received Bushen acupuncture combined with press needle treatment for 4 weeks. Pain degree, lumbar function, quality of life, serum pain substances and inflammatory indicators, and clinical efficacy and safety were observed. Results The total effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(P <0.05). Visual analogue scale(VAS) scores and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) scores at rest and exercise after treatment, serum levels of Substance P(SP), neuropeptide Y(NPY), interleukin-6(IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in both groups were lower than those before treatment(P <0.05). Tenderness threshold(PPT), Short Form Health Questionnaire(SF-36) score, Japanese Orthopedic Association(JOA) score, flexural, extension and lateral flexural motion were increased compared with those before treatment(P <0.05). VAS scores and ODI scores during rest and exercise after treatment were increased in the observation group. Serum levels of SP, NPY, IL-6 and TNF-α were lower than those of control group(P <0.05), PPT, SF-36 scores, JOA scores, flexion, extension and lateral flexion activity were higher than those of control group(P <0.05). Conclusion Bushen acupuncture combined with press needle can effectively inhibit the release of inflammation and pain mediators, relieve pain degree, and improve lumbar function and quality of life.
