Clinical observation on the effect of traditional Chinese medicine meridian electrophysiology combined with acupuncture on "reducing pain and promoting excretion" in patients after ESWL

Abstract:
Objective To study the clinical efficacy of using traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) meridian electrophysiology technology combined with acupuncture therapy to reduce pain and promote excretion in patients with ureteral stones after extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy(ESWL). Methods From August 2020 to August 2023，80 patients with upper ureteral calculi in the Department of Urology, Longhua Hospital were selected. After ESWL, we divided these 80 patients into treatment group and control group with 40 patients in each group by random number table. The control group received acupuncture treatment after the operation, and the treatment group was treated with TCM electrophysiological technique combined with acupuncture therapy after surgery. The clinical efficacy，recurrence rate, TCM syndrome score and visual pain score of the two groups were compared. Results The overall effective rate of the treatment group was 82.50% higher than that of the control group (52.50%)(P<0.05).The recurrence rate of the treatment group was 6.00%，which was lower than that of the control group(33.33%)(P<0.05). After treatment，the total scores of TCM symptom scores including the three main symptoms and secondary symptoms of lumbago and hematuria of the two groups were lower than that，and the scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05). After treatment，the scores of VAS in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment，the temperature in the treatment area of the two groups lower than before，and the temperature of the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of electrophysiological suitable technique and acupuncture therapy under the meridian theory of Traditional Chinese medicine can effectively promote the expulsion of ureteral stones after ESWL，relieve postoperative pain，urination discomfort and other symptoms，and reduce the recurrence rate of ureteral stones. It is safe without side effects and has certain clinical value.
