Study on multi-needle puncture combined with soft tissue balance around patella to promote postoperative knee joint function in patients with valgus deformity

Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of multi-needle puncture combined with soft tissue balance around patella on postoperative knee joint function in patients with valgus deformity. Methods 74 cases of knee valgus deformity patients who underwent knee replacement surgery at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University from February 2022 to April 2023 were selected. They were randomly divided into a control group and a combined group using a random number table method. Knee joint replacement was performed in both groups, soft tissue around patella was balanced in the control group, and multi-needle puncture technique was given in the combined group on the basis of the control group. The patients were followed up after operation, and the deadline for follow-up was May 20, 2024. Before and at the last postoperative follow-up, to evaluate the knee joint function and knee joint related parameters. The complications and adverse reactions during follow-up were recorded. Results After operation, the hip-knee-ankle angle(HKA) value of patients in both groups decreased, especially in the combined group (P<0.05). The patellar tilt angle, valgus angle, mechanical axis angle and patellofemoral index in both groups decreased, while the lateral patellar angle increased, and the decrease or increase in the combined group was even greater (P<0.05). The patellar scores of American Special Surgery Hospital (HSS), American Knee Joint Association (AKS) and Feller in both groups increased, while the bone and joint index bisection (WOMAC) score decreased, and the increase or decrease in the combined group was even greater (P<0.05). The range of motion of knee joint was increased in both groups, and it was higher in the combined group (P<0.05). Conclusion Multi-needle puncture combined with soft tissue balance around patella can obviously improve the postoperative knee joint function of patients with valgus deformity.
