Abstract:
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Cayratia japonica cream applied to the postoperative wounds of acute sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus abscess. Methods Prospective randomized controlled study method was used. Eighty-four patients with acute sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus abscesses treated with resection of sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus (marsupialization) were included and randomized into an experimental group (treated with Cayratia japonica cream dressing change, n=41) and a control group (treated with medical Vaseline dressing change, n=43), comparing the 2 groups in terms of wound pain and exudation, growth of wound granulation, wound healing, length of hospitalization, and Scar proliferation. Results The wound pain and exudation in the experimental group were significantly milder than those in the control group(P<0.05). The experimental group had better wound granulation growth, faster wound healing, and shorter hospitalization and healing times (all P < 0.001). At 6 months postoperatively, patients in the experimental group had significantly lower color, thickness, vascular distribution, tenderness, and total scores on the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) score than those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion The efficacy of Cayratia japonica cream applied to the postoperative wounds of acute sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus abscess was better, which could effectively reduce the postoperative wound pain, exudation, promote the growth of wound granulation, accelerate the speed of wound healing, shorten the time of hospitalization, and inhibit scar proliferation, which was worthy of clinical promotion.
