Abstract:
Objective To investigate the impacts of Pingle Guo's Orthopedics combined with small splint external fixation on palmar inclination and wrist joint function in elderly patients with distal radius fracture (DRF). Methods The clinical data of 103 elderly patients with DRF accepted in our hospital from March 2019 to April 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the different reduction techniques, they were grouped into conventional reduction group (n=51, conventional reduction) and traditional Chinese medicine reduction group (n=52, Pingle Guo's Orthopedics). Both groups were treated with small splint external fixation after reduction. The wrist ulnar declination, wrist palmar inclination, wrist active range of motion (AROM) and wrist function recovery effects were compared between the two groups. Results The wrist ulnar declination and palmar inclination increased with the treatment time in both groups (P<0.05), and there was no interaction in ulnar declination among groups and time points (P>0.05), while there was an interaction effect in palm inclination angle among groups and time points (P<0.05), and the ulnar declination and palmar inclination of the TCM reduction group were greatly greater than those of the conventional reduction group at immediately, 6 weeks and 12 weeks after treatment (P<0.05); at 12 weeks after treatment, the AROM of the affected wrist in dorsiflexion, palmar flexion and supination in both groups were higher than those before treatment (P<0.05), and the TCM reduction group were greatly larger than the conventional reduction group (P<0.05); the excellent and good rate of wrist joint function recovery in the TCM reduction group was 96.15%, which was greatly higher than that in the conventional reduction group (82.35%), the difference is statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Pingle Guo's Orthopedics combined with small splint external fixation for elderly patients with DRF can effectively regain?the bone, ensure long-term reduction, greatly enhance the recovery effect of wrist joint function, and greatly expand wrist AROM.
