Clinical observation of gold needle reduction technique in the treatment of elderly Colles fracture

Abstract:
Objective To explore the effectiveness of the gold pin reduction technique in treating Colles fracture in the elderly. Methods The Gold pin reduction technique was used to treat 32 cases of Collesfracture of distal radius in the elderly. The operation time, intraoperative bleeding, fracture healing, andfunctional recovery were recorded, and wrist function was evaluated according to the Gartland -Werley scale.Results All patients were followed up for 5-12 weeks. Fracture healing time was 6-12 weeks, with a mean of 8.3 weeks, operative time was 15-75 min, with a mean of 40.9 min, and intraoperative bleeding was 2-20 mL,with a mean of 6.5 mL. In terms of imaging assessment, the patients showed statistically significant differences in ulnar deviation, palmar inclination, and radial length at 1 week postoperatively and at 2 weeks post -nail extraction from preoperative levels. The excellent rate of X-ray scores at 5-8 weeks postoperatively was 93.7%;Gartland -Werley wrist function score at 12 weeks after surgery was 96.8% . There were no postoperative complications such as neurovascular tendon injury and needle tract infection. Conclusion The treatment of distal radius fracture with the golden restoration technique has the advantages of less trauma, less bleeding, fewer complications, and good recovery of wrist joint function.
