Effect of Tiaobu Zhongzhou decoction combined with parenteral nutrition on gastrointestinal function, escherichia coli,enterococcus,lactobacillus,Bifidobacterium, and nutritional status in elderly patients with gastric cancer after operation

Abstract:
Objective To analyze the effect of Tiaobu Zhongzhou decoction combined with parenteral nutrition on gastrointestinal function, intestinal flora, and nutritional status in elderly patients with gastric cancer after operation. Methods A total of 86 elderly patients undergoing gastric cancer surgery in Anqing Yuexi Traditional Chinese Medicine February of 2021 to February of 2023 were selected as research objects, and divided into treatment group (n=43) and control group (n=43) according to random number table method.All 86 patients were given routine measures according to their condition after operation.The control group received parenteral nutrition support on the 1st to 7th day after operation. The parenteral nutrition program of the treatment group was the same as that of the control group, and the treatment was supplemented with Tiaobu Zhongzhou decoction. The efficacy was evaluated after 1 week in both groups. The remission time of gastrointestinal dysfunction(GFD) related indicators, GFD score, intestinal flora calculation and nutritional status of elderly patients with gastric cancer after operation were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the 1st day after surgery, the indexes of both groups were improved on the 7th day after surgery (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the first postoperative defecation time and bowel sound recovery time in the treatment group were shortened (P < 0.05), the GFD score on the 7th day after surgery was decreased, the count of Escherichia coli and enterococcus decreased, and the count of lactobacillus and bifidobacterium increased. Serum growth hormone (GH), albumin (ALB) and transferrin (TRF) levels were significantly increased (P < 0.05). Conclusion Tiaobu Zhongzhou decoction combined with parenteral nutrition on intestinal flora and nutritional status in elderly patients with gastric cancer after operation can improve the intestinal flora,and is helpful to improvement of the gastrointestinal function and nutritional status of patients.
