Efficacy observation of intravenous infusion of elemene combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy for the gastric cancer with intraperitoneal metastasis

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of intravenous infusion of elemene combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in patients with gastric cancer with intraperitoneal metastasis. Methods The clinical data of 108 patients with gastric cancer intraperitoneal metastasis who received HIPEC treatment from January 2017 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The control group consisted of 58 patients treated with HIPEC alone, and the observation group consisted of 50 patients treated with intravenous infusion of elemene combined with HIPEC. Four weeks after the end of treatment, the immune cells, tumor markers, adverse reactions, short-term efficacy and follow-up survival of the two groups were evaluated. Results After treatment, the ratios of CD3+, CD4+and CD4+/CD8+ in the two groups were significantly increased compared with those before treatment, and the ratios in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the expression levels of tumor markers CEA, CA199 and CA125 in the two groups decreased, and CA199 and CA125 in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Compared the adverse reactions between the two groups, there was no significant difference in the incidence of abdominal distension, abdominal pain and nausea and vomiting (P>0.05); the incidence of bone marrow suppression, liver function damage and renal function damage in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Compared the clinical efficacy between the two groups, the short term overall response rate of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group (P<0.05), but there was no signi.cant difference in the short-term disease control rate between the two groups (P>0.05). The follow-up results showed that the survival time of the observation group was signi.cantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion HIPEC can significantly improve the survival of patients with gastric cancer intraperitoneal metastasis, adjuvant intravenous infusion of traditional Chinese medicine elemene can improve the patient’s immune function, reduce the toxic and side effects of HIPEC treatment, improve short-term ef.cacy and prolong survival.
