Observation on Acupuncture Point Hot Compress of Chinese Medicine Treating Gastrointestinal Dysfunction on Gastric Cancer Peritoneal Metastasis Patients after Cyto-Reductive Surgery

Abstract:
Objective To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture point hot compress of chinese medicine treating gastrointestinal dysfunction on gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis patients after cyto-reductive surgery. Methods Total 65 gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction after cytoreductive surgery were divided into 2 groups. Group I including 34 patients were given the treatments of acupuncture point hot compress of chinese medicine and perioperative therapy. Group II including 31 patients were given the treatments of perioperative therapy only. First defecating time, main symptom score of qi deficiency and nutrition assessment score were observed and analyzed. Results First defecating time: The first defecating time of group I was (7.19±1.52)d, which lower than those (8.41±1.96)d of group II (P=0.007). Main symptom score of qi deficiency: The fatigue symptom score of group I was lower than those of group II 7 days after cyto-reductive surgery (P =0.031). The symptom score of nausea and vomit, bloating and abdominal pain, fatigue, and total scores of group I were lower than those of group II 14 days after surgery (P < 0.05).Nutrition assessment score: The nutrition assessment score of group I (9.95±2.39) were higher than group II(P =0.001). Conclusion Acupuncture point hot compress of chinese medicine could help gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis patients shorten the first defecating time after cyto-reductive surgery,relieving symptoms of nausea and vomit, bloating and abdominal pain, and fatigue, improving nutritional status.
