Retrospective Analysis of Wrist Ankle Acupuncture Combined with Auricular Plaster Therapy for Postoperative Analgesia of Mixed Hemorrhoids

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effect of wrist ankle acupuncture combined with auricular point sticking on postoperative pain of mixed hemorrhoids. Methods The clinical data of patients who underwent mixed hemorrhoidectomy in the anorectal department of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2020 to January 2021 were retrospectively collected. A total of 151 clinical cases were included. According to different treatment methods, they were divided into wrist ankle acupuncture combined with auricular point sticking group (group A, n =55), auricular point sticking group (group B, n =37) and routine nursing group (Group C, n =59). The VAS scores at rest and activity of the three groups as well as the difference between the incidence of postoperative adverse reactions and the length of hospital stay were compared. Results The VAS scores of patients in group A at rest at 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h and 72 h after operation were (4.22±1.78), (3.49±1.07), (3.11±0.85), (2.19±1.03), (1.88±0.60) respectively. The VAS scores of patients in group A at activity at 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h and 72 h after operation were (4.82±1.62),(4.25±0.99), (3.64±0.78), (2.87±0.84), (2.24±0.70) respectively, which were significantly lower than those in group B and group C. The difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The number of postoperative dizziness, vomiting and nausea in group A were 5,7 and 4 respectively, which were significantly lower than those in group B and group C. The average hospital stay of group A was ( 5 . 58 ± 1 . 18 ) d, which was also shorter than that of group B and group C (P <0.001). Conclusion Wrist ankle acupuncture combined with auricular point sticking can effectively alleviate the postoperative pain of mixed hemorrhoids, reduce the incidence of adverse reactions and shorten the length of hospital stay. It can provide evidence-based reference for postoperative analgesia of mixed hemorrhoids.
