Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of external therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine on recovery of gastrointestinal function after abdominal surgery by Meta-analysis method. Methods Computer retrieval of PubMed, CNKI, VIP, CBM, Wanfang Data were performed. The clinical randomized controlled trial (RCT) of external treatment of TCM on recovery of gastrointestinal function after abdominal surgery was searched, and the retrieval time was from the time of building the database November 1st, 2021. The literature was screened, the data were extracted, and the quality was evaluated. The Revman5.3 software was used for Meta analysis. Results A total of 16 RCTs involving 2 628 patients were included. The results of the Meta-analysis indicated that: compared between both groups, external therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine shortened the postoperative initial exhaust time, SMD=-10.06, 95%CI [-11.56, -8.57], P<0.001; reduced the postoperative first defecation time, SMD=-11.92, 95%CI [-15.54,-8.29], P <0.001; speeded up the initial recovery of bowel sounds, SMD=-7.50, 95%CI [-10.01, -4.99],P <0.001; enhanced the effective rate, RR=1.34,95%CI [1.21,1.47], P<0.001. Conclusion Current evidence shows that the external therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine has a positive clinical effect on recovery of gastrointestinal function after abdominal surgery. But limited quality and quantity of the included studies, more high-quality studies are required to verify the above conclusion.
