Literature Analysis of Perioperative Causes of Death in Patients undergoing Elective Surgery

Abstract:
Objective To summarize and study the causes of perioperative death of patients undergoing elective surgery, so as to provide reference for strengthening perioperative management, preventing postoperative complications and reducing mortality. Methods Taking“perioperative period” or“preoperative period” or “intraoperative period”or“postoperative period”and“death” as the search words, the data were systematically searched in CNKI, Wanfang academic journal database and Chinese scientific and technological journal database (VIP). The data were collected, the cause database of perioperative death was established, and the data were summarized and analyzed. Results It was found that the top three types of specialized surgery were cardiovascular surgery(6.26%), joint surgery(3.89%) and hepatobiliary surgery(3.76%). The top three causes of perioperative death were multiple organ failure(20.96%), low cardiac output(8.74%) and infection(5.03%). Conclusion The serious postoperative complications during perioperative period of elective surgery are the main cause of death. Strengthening perioperative management, preventing and actively dealing with postoperative complications are of great significance to reduce perioperative death events.
