Meta-Analysis of Clinical Efficacy of Flexible Ureteroscopy Combined with Paishi Decoction in Treatment of Urinary Calculi

Abstract:
Objective A meta-analysis was conducted on the efficacy of flexible ureteroscope combined with Paishi decoction in the treatment of urinary calculi published at home and abroad. Methods Computer search for VIP, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, CNKI, CBM, PubMed English database. The retrieval time was limited to the clinical randomized controlled trials (RCTS) and case-control studies on the treatment of urinary calculi with flexible ureteroscopy combined with Paishi Decoction published so far. Results 11 RCTS and 4 case-control studies were included. There were 1270 patients. The results of meta-analysis showed that compared with the control group, flexible ureteroscopy combined with Paishi decoction could improve the overall calculus clearance rate [OR=4.32, 95%CI (2.97, 6.29), P<0.001], shorten postoperative calculus removal time [MD=-3.76, 95%CI (-4.75, -2.77), P<0.001] as well as reduce postoperative renal colic [OR=0.28, 95%CI (0.13, 0.50), P=0.0008] and residual stone 4 weeks after surgery [OR=0.18, 95%CI (0.09, 0.34), P<0.001]. Conclusion The treatment of urinary calculi with flexible ureteroscopy combined with Paishi decoction can effectively improve the postoperative calculus clearance rate, shorten the time of calculi expulsion from the body as well as reduce the occurrence of renal colic and residual calculi.
