Effect of Bazhen Decoction on Pain and Quality of Life in Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation after Intervertebral Disc Nucleus Pulposus Removal under Minimally Invasive Perforation

Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of Bazhen Decoction on pain and quality of life in patients with lumbar disc herniation after minimally invasive thoracoscopic intervertebral disc nucleus pulposus removal. Methods Patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation removed by minimally invasive thoracoscopic intervertebral disc nucleus pulposus were selected from our hospital from February 2019 to February 2020. The patients were randomly divided into two groups, which 65 cases in each group. One group was the control group for routine treatment. The other group was the observation group, which based on the control group, plus the treatment with Bazhen Decoction. The pain, spinal dysfunction and quality of life were observed and compared between the two groups after one month of treatment. Results The pain score (VAS) of the observation group was signi?cantly lower than that of the control group after treatment, There was a signi?cant difference between the two groups (P<0.05), which was statistically signi?cant. There was no signi?cant difference in spinal dysfunction score (ODI) between the observation group and the control group after treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the quality of life score (SF-36) in the observation group, including mental health, social function et al., was signi?cantly higher than that of the control group. There was a signi?cant difference between the two groups (P<0.05), which was statistically signi?cant. Conclusion Bazhen Decoction can effectively relieve pain and improve patients' quality of life with lumbar disc herniation after intervertebral disc nucleus pulposus removal
