Effect of Alendronate Combined with Huoxue Bugu Decoction on Shoulder Joint Function and Bone Metabolism in Patients with Osteoporotic Proximal Humerus Fracture After Operation

Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the effect of treating osteoporotic proximal humerus fracture with Huoxue Bugu decoction and Alendronate on postoperative rehabilitation. Methods Sixty-six patients with osteoporotic proximal humerus fractures from January 2019 to January 2020 were randomly divided into two groups.The Control Group (33 cases) was treated with Alendronate, and the Observation Group (33 cases) was treated with alendronate and Huoxue Bugu decoction.The recovery time, pain degree, shoulder function, bone metabolism and complications were observed after treatment. Results The time of swelling, hospitalization, Callus and fracture healing in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group(t=6.153, 5.861, 14.163, 17.958, all P<0.05). The NPIS scores of the observation group at 1,3,6 and 12 months after treatment were significantly lower than those of the control group(t=4.335, 10.673, 21.542, 30.315, all P<0.05). The excellent and good rate of shoulder function recovery in the observation group was 93.94% (31/33), which was significantly higher than that in the control group (75.76%)(25/33). The total incidence of complications was 3.03% (1/33), which was significantly lower than that in the control group (18.18%)(6/33)(χ2 =4.243, 3.995, all P<0.05). The levels of PTH, BALP and β-ctx in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the OC levels were higher than those in the control group(t=9.897, 3.858, 8.942, 26.732, all P<0.05). Conclusion Patients with osteoporotic proximal humeral fracture were treated with alendronate plus Huoxue Bugu decoction after operation, which can obviously speed up the recovery speed of patients after operation, reduce the postoperative pain, improve the recovery effect of shoulder joint function, improve the bone metabolism of patients and reduce the postoperative complications. It is helpful for patients to obtain more ideal overall rehabilitation effect after operation.
