Treatment of 40 Cases of Type Diabetes Foot with Damp-heat and Excessive Toxin by Oil Adjusting Paste Combined with Vacuum-assisted Closure

Abstract:
Objective To summarize the curative effect of the combination of oil-regulating ointment and vacuum-assisted closure in treating the foot of type diabetes mellitus with damp-heat and toxin. Methods The clinical data of 40 cases of diabetic foot with damp-heat and toxic excess type were reviewed. All cases were treated by external application of ointment, wound debridement, vacuum-assisted closure or skin grafting. Results 38 of 40 patients were discharged from hospital with wound healing time ranging from 14 to 30 days (mean 16.58 to 1.60 days). The length of hospitalization were 15~33 days, the average (18.58~4.12) days. 2 cases were not healed, and the healed within 1 month after discharge. All the cases were followed up for 2 months, and no recurrence occurred. Conclusion It is effective to treat damp-heat and toxin-abundant diabetic foot with external application of oil-adjusting ointment combined with debridement and vacuum-assisted closure or combined with skin grafting.
