Clinical Observation on Treating Inflammatory External Hemorrhoids with ZhiTongRuShen Decoction Combined with Fumigating-washing Therapy

Abstract:
Objective To observe the clinical effect of Zhitongrushen decoction fumigated hip bath on inflammatory external hemorrhoids. Methods 144 patients with inflammatory external hemorrhoids were randomly divided into two groups and 72 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated by fumigating and washing sitz bath with Zhitongrushen decoction, while the control group was treated by fumigating and washing sitz bath with 0.02% potassium permanganate solution for 2 weeks. The total effective rates of the two groups were counted respectively. VAS scores of anal pain, foreign body sensation scores, falling swelling sensation scores and changes in hemorrhoid nucleus size before and after treatment were collected. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group after 2 weeks (100% vs. 90%, P < 0.05).The VAS score of anal pain, foreign body sensation and falling swelling sensation scores, and hemorrhoid nucleus size in the treatment group were (8.21±0.97)cm, (3.10±0.58)cm, (3.51±0.62)cm before treatment, and (1.26±0.58)cm, (1.22±0.53)cm, (1.74±0.65)cm after treatment respectively. In the control group, the VAS score of anal pain,foreign body sensation score, heaviness sensation score and the change size of hemorrhoid nucleus were (8.22±1.05) cm, (3.14±0.61)cm, (3.58±0.68)cm before treatment, and (2.97±0.64)cm, (1.58±0.55)cm, (2.40±0.66)cm after treatment respectively. The three recorded indexes were significantly lower after treatment than those before treatment, which was statistical significance. The scores in treatment group were lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Zhitongrushen decoction has the effect of detumescence and analgesia. The fumigating and washing hip bath has a better effect in treating inflammatory external hemorrhoids.
