Clinical Observations on Application of Electroacupuncture to Painless Gastroscopy

Abstract:
Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture on blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, adverse reaction and anesthesia depth in painless gastroscopy. Methods 140 cases with gastroscopy were randomly divided into such two groups as electroacupuncture group and control group, 70 cases each. Such records were made as the stress reaction caused by endoscopic insertion, the changes of blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation and sedation level of patients before, during and after gastroscopy. Results In the electroacupuncture group, the incidence of stress response was low and the blood pressure and heart rate were stable during and after gastroscopy, which were no significant changes than those before gastroscopy ( P >0.05).The hemodynamics of patients fluctuated greatly in the control group. The difference between examination and pre-examination was statistically significant ( P < 0.05). Compared with the two groups, the sedation degree of the electroacupuncture group was significantly lower than that of the control group ( P < 0.05). Conclusion Application of electroacupuncture to painless gastroscopy can effectively inhibit the stress response caused by endoscopic insertion, maintain the stability of hemodynamics and enable patients to complete the examination with low sedation.
