Therapeutic Effect of Modified Buzhong Yiqi Decoction Combined with Acupoint Application on Outlet Obstruction Constipation

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of modified Buzhong Yiqi Decoction (BYD) combined with acupoint application on outlet obstructive constipation. Methods Totally 104 patients with outlet obstructive constipation (OOC) admitted in our hospital from July 2017 to August 2018 were divided into observation group (n=52) and control group (n=52) on the basis of random number table. The patients in observation group were treated with the combination of modified BYD and acupoint application, while the patients in control group were given macrogol 4000 powder. All patients were treated for 4 weeks. The total effective rate after treatment in both groups, the main symptom integral before and after treatment, anorectal dynamic indexes [anal resting pressure (ARP), anal squeeze pressure (ASP) and rectum maximum tolerable volume (RMTV)] and intestinal .ora parameters before and after treatment, and side effect were observed between the two groups. Results The overall effective rate of the observation group was 94.23% (49/52), much higher than that [73.08% (38/52)] of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment both groups saw a remarkable decrease in symptom (grade of defecation difficulties, defecation time and stool nature) integral as compared with that before treatment (P<0.05), and the decrease the observation group witnessed was more significant (P<0.05). After treatment the observation group saw an obvious drop in ARP, ASP, TMTV, enterobacteriaceae and nterococcus count (P<0.05), an increase in bi.dobacterium and lactobacillus count was observed compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), while the control group had no signi.cant difference in above aspects (P>0.05). The incidence of side effect of the observation group was 7.69% (4/52), without significant difference compared with the control group [3.85% (2/52)] (P>0.05). Conclusion In treating OOC the combination of modified BYD and acupoint application can significantly relieve symptoms in patients, improve anorectal dynamics and correct intestinal flora imbalance, proving to be effective and safe.
