Abstract:
Objective To study the relationship between the microcystins-LR (MC-LR) level in serum of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients and the clinical stage and prognosis of HCC. Methods ELISA assay was used to detect the level of MC-LR in serum and the relationship between the serum MC-LR level in HCC and the clinical characteristics and prognosis was detected and analyzed. Results The median of serum MC-LR level was 0.69 ng/mL, the serum MC-LR level in patients with different TNM stage was differently distributed (P<0.001), and there was a linear correlation between the MC-LR level and clinical stage (P<0.001). Serum MCLR level was correlated with age (P<0.05), sex (P<0.05), alcohol drinking (P<0.05), clinical stage (P<0.001), N stage (P<0.001), M stage (P<0.01), and HBV infection ( P<0.05). Patients with higher level of serum MC-LR would have a shorter overall survival time (P<0.05). Conclusion Serum MC-LR level was correlated with the prognosis of HCC, higher MC-LR serum level is associated with a shorter overall survival rate.
