Treatment of Asthenospermia with Compound Xuanju Capsule after High Ligation of Spermatic Cord Vein

Abstract:
Objective To observe the curative effect of laparoscopic high spermatic vein ligation combined with Compound Xuanju Capsule on asthenospermia complicated with varicocele. Methods A total of 75 cases of varicocele complicated with asthenospermia were collected, and then randomly divided into the treatment group (n=39) and the control group (n=36) according to the even and odd number of hospitalization. All patients underwent laparoscopic high spermatic vein ligation for varicocele. After surgery, the patients in treatment group were orally given Compound Xuanju Capsule and the patients in control group were observed at rest. After 12 weeks, the semen volume, sperm density, total sperm motility, sperm survival rate and sperm morphology of the two groups were analyzed before and after treatment. Meanwhile, changes in hormones were compared, such as follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone (T), serum inhibin B, etc. Results After 12 weeks of treatment, sperm parameters in the two groups were as follows: (1) sperm volume increased by (1.2±0.41) mL, sperm density increased by (2.7±1.85)×106/mL, total activity increased by (24.5±6.10)%, sperm survival rate increased by (25.1±7.32)%, normal sperm morphology improved by (2.0±1.29)%, the improvement was signi?cantly better than that of the control group (P <0.01). The relative hormone levels in the treatment group were as follows: T increased by (9.1±6.43) nmol/L, FSH decreased by (5.2± 1 . 54) IU/L, LH decreased by ( 3 . 7 ± 0 . 95) IU/L, and serum statin B increased by ( 26. 1 ± 15. 03) pg/mL, all of which were significantly better than those in the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion Combined application of Compound Xuanju Capsule is feasible to treat asthenospermia after high spermatic vein ligation. It can contribute to the improvement in the quality of sperm, level of sex hormones, and ef?ciency of clinical treatment, which is worthy of clinical application and popularization.
